Timpanogos Cave National Monument sits in American Fork Canyon, a short drive from American Fork and Highland. Visitors hike a steep, paved trail about a mile and a half up the canyon wall to reach three limestone caves filled with colorful formations, then join a ranger guided tour inside. Tickets are tied to a start time and often sell out, so buying in advance is strongly recommended. Bring water for the climb and a light jacket, because the cave stays cool even on hot days. Strollers and pets are not allowed on the trail. Tours run seasonally, so check the National Park Service website for current dates before you go.
